We were super excited to be part of the BRSCC Mazda Mx-5 Championship this weekend, not only as sponsor but also joining the action with Jay & Ed at Team7Racing. There really is an overwhelming sense of community and family and we see that every weekend. It was incredible being a part of it!
Unfortunately on the 2nd corner of the first lap, Ed was collected by another car which caused Ed to be airborne and roll 3 times after. Fortunately Ed and the other drivers involved had no serious injuries and the race could resume after a red flag.
As always, a big thank you to the marshals for being there so quickly and efficiently clearing up after the incident.
No commentators curse here (but we agree the livery did look great!) although in all seriousness, it really does bring home the importance of driver safety and ensuring that equipment is race ready, both for the car interior and for the driver too.
Thank you to Brandon Abraham for supplying his in-car footage.
For all of the WASPP cars sponsored with Team7, we use QSP Harness, a QSP Seat (and brackets), Lifeline Fire Extinguisher (luckily not needed!) and have a VBOX so we can see the replays just like this.
If you’re unsure about your equipment or are looking to upgrade/buy new equipment for the next season, get in touch with the team at WASPP and we’ll offer unbiased advice to help you get exactly what you need for your racing category and championship.
Big congratulations to Oliver Allwood for winning the race after the restart.
Thanks to everyone getting in touch to make sure that Ed was ok. We’ll see you all again for the final round of the FunCup Championship at Oulton Park on Oct 17th.
