MXL2 GPS Module
The GPS08 Module (included in the kit) connected via CAN to the MXL2 makes lap time calculation and track position analysis very easy. Each Aim MXG memory stores more than 200 world tracks start/finish line coordinates: as soon as Aim MXL2 is switched on, the GPS08 Module will locate its position, identify track-line coordinates and start immediately sampling lap and split time.
If the track is not included in the database, it is always possible to add the start/finish line coordinates to the Aim MXL2 via PC before going to the track, using the Race Studio 3 – Track Manager software.
MXL2 Second CAN
An innovative MXL2 feature is its CAN 2 line, managing data coming from your additional modules (i.e. ABS, traction control, infrared temperature sensors and more). This feature meets the requirements of a growing number of racers, as the use of additional modules is becoming quite common in a number of series.
MXL2 Internal Accelerometer and Gyro
The internal three-axial accelerometer and the gyroscope provide the MXL2 a very powerful array of information. These force and motion sensors enable you to quantify the dynamic characteristics of your vehicle. Measuring acceleration forces and gyro rates can assist in determining how to improve your vehicle performances.
MXL2 Math Channels
With MXL2 you immediately get Math Channels values. The dash logger can be configured to display those values (i.e. brake bias, calculated gear) in real time.

Fitting
Simple Installation
We have tried to make the installation as simple as possible. The Dash requires power & earth and connecting to the ViM Module. The module has to be connected to your existing Indicators, Lights, etc. using the supplied simple wiring loom. Probably the most complicated part is then using a Multimeter to measure relevant signals to set up items such as your fuel gauge. And that’s it!
Once the dash is mounted in the vehicle (fixing brackets are available) if you prefer, any qualified auto electrician will be able connect it all for you within a day, making the IVA Approved Kit Car Dash Kit a complete solution for Kit Car and Road-Based Vehicle Builders who need a fully IVA compliant Dash Display for their build. Together with the included pre-configured, simple wiring loom the ‘ViM Kit’ offers a highly cost effective legal solution for a digital display in your vehicle.
Customisable Display
Just like modern luxury cars you can choose the Dash display style, from classic round dials to fully digital readouts. Pre-configured layouts of different styles and colours ensure that the Dash is easily configurable using our free RaceStudio 3 software.
You can even switch between the different layouts at any time using the push buttons on the side of the Strada. If the Dash is too far away or you have mounted the display flush into your dashboard, extension cables are available to extend the buttons within easy reach.
Expandable According To Your Needs
As we have a long Motorsport heritage, the MXG Strada Dash can also be connected to other Aim products such as our Data Loggers or Cameras.

Double Aim Mirror Camera: ended with:
- Male metallic 5 pins Binder connector for connection to AiM loggers
- X2 female metallic Binder connectors: each one must be used to connect the Mirror Camera (cable lengths 4m – front camera – and 6m – rear camera).

Configuration through Race Studio 3
Once the connection has been executed, it is necessary to configure the device, defining a specific event that causes the camera image displaying. For example, if you wish to turn ON the camera when you insert the Reverse Gear, these are the steps to follow:
- Open Race Studio 3, connect your system via Wi-Fi or USB and create a new configuration (or modify an existing one).
- The Gear, of course, is supposed to be one of the available channels. It is possible to obtain it
Through the analogue sensor, plugging it into one of the device analogue channels, which must be configured as expressed on the right (Channels tab). The “Use reverse gear” box must be ticked.
Through ECU, selecting the compatible protocol with your vehicle ECU from the ECU Stream tab.
Open the Trigger Commands tab and click “Add New Command”: select “First Camera Input Page” as a command to activate when the Gear is equal to “R”.
Settings through Aim device menu
The camera parameters setting must be executed from the device menu directly, as explained below:
- Press “MENU/<<” button.
- Pressing “PREV and “NEXT”, move on the VIDEO IN icon and press “ENTER”.
- The system offers the possibility to set the image format (PAL or NTSC – according to the camera technical specs), brightness and contrast for each available input.

If no key is pressed, after 5 seconds the menu disappears, showing the camera image in live streaming, so that it can be better positioned.
