The 7” MXL2 Dash Data Logger acquires data from your engine ECU, the internal accelerometer, gyro, as well as the GPS08 Module in the kit.
The MXL2 Racing Dash Logger is designed with the professional and the amateur racer in mind. Its simplified design makes configuration and usage a breeze. For professionals, the MXL2 can support up to eight analogue sensor inputs to measure things such as pressures, thermo-resistances and even your custom sensors. All these are recorded up to 1000 times per second.
A wide range of data sources
One of the main features of the MXL2 is its ability to receive a wide array of data from numerous different sources. It can display data from your ECU, the GPS08 Module included in the kit, and even from the built-in gyro and accelerometer, all in real time. With the ability to add up to eight expansion modules, the possibilities are endless.
With up to eight custom pages, you now have the ability to see exactly what is important to you on the screen. There is a vast array of different pages available in our library, or you can create your own.
Sharp liquid crystal display
The LCD screen is sharper than ever. It has nearly double the white ratio compared to its predecessor. You now have the choice of a red or white background colour, and when you combine that with the built in ambient light sensor, the MXL2 can be viewed clearly in any lighting conditions.
The MXL2 has six LED’s that can be completely customized to any colour and flashing frequency desired. They can also be configured to turn on/off depending on ECU values, analogue or digital inputs, GPS information, etc. But wait, there’s more. The alarms can also be configured to flash red on the screed along with a written message.
Two Digital Outputs
Two digital outputs are available on the MXL2, each with an output of one amp at 12 volts. This means that a wide array of external systems can be configured to turn on/or off when a certain event happens, including things such turning, on/off additional lights, activate/ deactivate cooling fans or circulation pumps, and so on.
Integrated Shift Light Array
The 10 integrated LED shift lights are one of the most recognizable features of the MXL2. The RGB LED’s can be customized to any colours for one or all gears.
MXL2 Connection Examples
Race Studio 3
Race Studio 3 is the heart of your MXL2, managing all your racing activities. The Race Studio 3 can create, modify, delete, import and export configurations with all channels, ECU drivers, Math channels, Display Pages, Digital outputs, Alarms, Shift Lights and all the expansions you need. You will also be able to manage the map of all your racing tracks and compare two laps watching the video recorded by SmartyCam HD cameras.
Your MXL2 Racing Dash Logger can be connected to RaceStudio 3 on your PC wirelessly via the secure 802.11 Wi-Fi connection.
Aim MXL2 acquires data from the ECU of your vehicle. The list of available ECU drivers is constantly updated and upgraded and is published in our support site which include over 1000 different ECU’s, either Stock and Racing. They are sorted by manufacturer/vehicle model and for each ECU, you will find the proprietary communication protocols, including the standard OBDII ones.
From a hardware point of view, MXL2 manages the following data lines:
Analog Digital Inputs
MXL2 has eight analog inputs, recorded up to 1000 times per second each. You can connect and monitor all kinds of sensors, like:
- Pressure sensors
- K-type thermocouple and many others, all your custom sensors included.
MXL2 also features six digital inputs
Four speed signals – MXL2 can receive the speed signal from the ECU, from the GPS and from the four wheel sensors.
RPM – MXG can receive the RPM signal from the ECU or from a digital input connected to a square wave signal (8 to 50 V) or to a low voltage (from 150 to 400 V) of the coil.
Lap signal – Lap and split times are sampled by the GPS (included in the kit) or via optical receiver/transmitter.
MXL2 GPS Module
The GPS08 Module (included in the kit) connected via CAN to the MXL2 makes lap time calculation and track position analysis very easy. Each Aim MXG memory stores more than 200 world tracks start/finish line coordinates: as soon as Aim MXL2 is switched on, the GPS08 Module will locate its position, identify track-line coordinates and start immediately sampling lap and split time.
If the track is not included in the database, it is always possible to add the start/finish line coordinates to the Aim MXL2 via PC before going to the track, using the Race Studio 3 – Track Manager software.
MXL2 Second CAN
An innovative MXL2 feature is its CAN 2 line, managing data coming from your additional modules (i.e. ABS, traction control, infrared temperature sensors and more). This feature meets the requirements of a growing number of racers, as the use of additional modules is becoming quite common in a number of series.
MXL2 Internal Accelerometer and Gyro
The internal three-axial accelerometer and the gyroscope provide the MXL2 a very powerful array of information. These force and motion sensors enable you to quantify the dynamic characteristics of your vehicle. Measuring acceleration forces and gyro rates can assist in determining how to improve your vehicle performances.
MXL2 Math Channels
With MXL2 you immediately get Math Channels values. The dash logger can be configured to display those values (i.e. brake bias, calculated gear) in real time.
